In celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday we learned how to work our feet and our hands. Just as Suess' Mr. Brown Can Moo!, Mrs. Cat can MEOW! In "Mrs. Cat Can Meow! Can You?" A Poem of Wacky, Wonderful Noises - While Clawing the Mat we allowed our inner animal out on the mat while paying close attention to our hands and feet. Are they wacky? Are they flat? Are they clawing the mat? When practicing this wacky flow while making Suesserrific noises you too will learn the importance of clawing the mat. In playing "Stop Foot, Go" (a zany spin on the all time favorite game, Musical Chairs) and studying the 4 corners of our feet we checked on our left foot and our right foot making sure they were fuzzy fur feet. While "Roaring", "split - splatting" and "meowing" along with Mrs. Cat we learned that when our four paws are aligned we feel more steady, more grounded, and in balance with the universe.Tags: No Table Yes, Do The Twist, Cat Scratch Fever, poetry, yoga flow, Dr. Seuss, Claw The Mat, Noises, Yoga with Sounds, Animals, Yoga Animals, I Am What I Am, Baby Got Back, Down Dog, Pride Plank
In the busyness of life, we tend to get contracted, even with our yoga practice. We want to be aligned, with good form and practice these principles in sequential order. At times, all of those details can bog us down. Bring playfulness into your yoga practice and think of it like a game. See what part of you is winning in certain poses. Pick three actions to focus on:
1.Rock solid steadiness 2.Spacious, full, bright, paper-smooth breath 3. Scissoring the midline
The directions for Warrior 1 Up are here, but don't stop there. Think Rock, Paper, Scissors with each pose and notice what becomes more clear.Tags: Warrior I Up, Clarity, Breath, Hug the Midline, Play, Poses, Scissors, Paper, Rock, poetry

Jordan Schuster (13 year old Grounded Teen) found yoga when she started middle school. She has continued her study of yoga over the years completing her Grounded Teacher Training and obtaining her Green Bandana.
She is dedicated to her Grounded Teen and Adult yoga classes. She helped write the "Grounded in the Courtroom" video and plays District Attorney Anusara. Her Grounded lessons are infused with poetry and story. She is just so grounded in her heart that when she thought about her cousin who is getting married next month, she wrote a poem.
She said, "My cousin and her fiance are so in love; it is adorable!"
The Grounded Poet is on the right wearing her trademark T-Shirt that states "Melt Hearts, Not Ice Caps!".Tags: Heart, Love, Story, poetry, Teen
